Microsoft Internet Explorer

1. Problem: I assigned a transition effect action or a clip action (such as Iris, Peek, Set Clip Top, Set Clip Right and so on) to an object on my page. The transitions do not display when I view the page in Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Solution: To see a transition or clip action in Microsoft Internet Explorer for the PC, change the page's HTML output method to CSS and layers and republish the page. Transitions and clip actions do not work in Microsoft Internet Explorer for the Macintosh. Images with transitions on Macintosh display in their static state. Tell your Macintosh site visitors to view the page with another browser if it is important that they see the transitions.

2. Problem: Site visitors who view my site with Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.x on the Macintosh do not see scroll bars on the browser window. They cannot scroll to see any content outside the visible portion of the browser window.

Solution: Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.04 for Macintosh does not display scroll bars for pages published with CSS and layers as the HTML output method. Either change the HTML output method for the page to regular or nested tables and republish the site, or tell your Macintosh site visitors to use another browsers to view the site.

3. Problem: Some images do not display in older Microsoft browsers.

Solution: Make sure the pictures are not in PNG format. NetObjects Fusion 3.0 lets you place PNG images on the page, but 3.x and earlier browsers do not support PNG images. If you want the images to display correctly in all browsers, open them in an image editing application and save them as GIF or JPG format.

4. Problem: I assigned Play, Pause, and Stop actions to objects on my page. When clicked, the objects are supposed to control a sound. I see a message that says Error with user added action. when I click the objects in a browser.

Solution: The Play, Pause, and Stop actions do not work in Microsoft Internet Explorer. Choose the in-line icon in the Display section of the Sound Properties palette so that your site visitors can use the controls on the in-line icon.

5. Problem: When I view my published page, I see all the content on the page stacked vertically against the left margin of the browser.

Solution: This problem can occur in two different situations when a page is published with CSS and layers as its HTML output method. Either you viewed the page using an older (3.x) browser, or you viewed a form using a 4.x browser. If the problem occurred because you used an older browser, either view the page with a 4.x browser or publish with regular or nested tables as the HTML output method. If the problem occurred because the page contains a form, change the HTML output method to regular or nested tables, and republish the site. You must publish forms with regular or nested tables as the HTML output method even if you plan to view them with a 4.x browser.

6. Problem: Transition and movement actions seem jerky and slow when I view them with my Macintosh browser. Sometimes when I click to start an action, the action does not start.

Solution: You might experience delays for actions to begin when you view your pages on a Macintosh. Actions are also slower to execute, making them seem shaky. Make sure you wait until the loading activity in the browser´s status bar is completed before trying to invoke actions that require user input, such as a mouse click. Also, if you click and hold down, the browser might incorrectly identify the click as an attempt to see the context menu.

7. Problem:
My drag and collision detection actions work only sporadically in Macintosh browsers.

Solution: The Macintosh operating system's drag-and-drop functionality sometimes interferes with drag and collision detection actions in the browser. The operating system tries to interpret a drag in the context of the operating system's built-in drag and drop functionality.
