Platform differences usually boil down to font issues, though in addition, all of the browser generated elements previously discussed display differently on a platform other than the Windows environment. In the following pages are some screen shots of samples from this site viewed in the same browser versions, but on different platforms.
Currently I only have comparison shots for Macintosh browsers, but other platforms such as UNIX or Linux will also display these types of elements differently. If you know that your clients or site visitors will be using a particular platform, it is a good idea to get that platform in house so that you can see the differences that the browsers introduce, and adjust your design accordingly
