"In Fusion 4.0, NetObjects has automated and simplified the building of a Web site, which translates into time and money saved." -- PC Week Online, January 1999
Pioneering the site-wide approach, NetObjects Fusion offers five comprehensive areas to help you plan, build, and manage your business Web site. It's a different approach from Dreamweaver, but so intuitive you can be up and running in no time.
Site Structure Dreamweaver's Site Map may provide a graphical overview of your site structure, but it won't allow you add, rename or move pages around in a visual environment. NetObjects Fusion, on the other hand, lets you set up the architecture of your site with drag-and-drop simplicity. Move, add, rename and delete pages without worrying about broken links -- ever. No matter how often you move pages around, NetObjects Fusion automatically and immediately updates all of your internal links. You can focus on your site's architecture, while NetObjects Fusion takes care of the technical back-end.
Page Layout To design pages in Dreamweaver, you must first create tables that will contain your text and images. Or, you can place objects on individual layers and then convert the layers to tables. NetObjects Fusion, on the other hand, lets you easily drag and drop elements anywhere onto the page, delivering true WYSIWYG editing -- with no intermediate steps. The program then automatically generates the necessary tables. Position page elements with pixel-level precision in a visual environment that lets you point and click to create frames. If you like, you can also easily add your own HTML code.
SiteStyles Busy site builders often want the convenience of applying a style across the site quickly. But Dreamweaver forces you to manually implement templates, which cannot be applied to the site by default. NetObjects Fusion, however, includes more than 200 SiteStyles that are applied site-wide with a mere point and click. And for even more freedom, NetObjects Fusion lets you create your own unique SiteStyle, or pick and choose individual elements of the SiteStyles provided. Adding rollover effects is easy, too. Just one click activates rollovers on all buttons in a SiteStyle. NetObjects Fusion generates the JavaScript code for you!
Asset Management To manage objects in Dreamweaver, you would use the Library palette. NetObjects Fusion streamlines the process by including a manager that supports the way you work, offering access to files, links, variables and dataobjects in one easy view. The easy-to-understand visual interface of NetObjects Fusion's asset manager tells you when an asset is in use and where it is in your site, and warns you if you try to delete an asset that's in use elsewhere.
Publishing Dreamweaver is a file-based program with a built-in FTP client. When you're ready to publish, you have to manage the upload on your own. But NetObjects Fusion takes care of the process for you, allowing you to drag and drop files to custom-named directories, transferring your site files to the server -- automatically. Instant directory management means transparent changes to you, so you can get on with the important stuff. And, of course, you can choose to optimize your site for the latest browsers, or accommodate everyone who's still using versions 2.x or 3.x.
