NetObjects and Leading E-Commerce Vendors Extend NetObjects Fusion and NetObjects TeamFusion for Building E-Commerce Sites
Three Leading E-Commerce Vendors Develop Drag & Drop Components

Redwood City, Calif., May 27, 1998 - NetObjects, Inc., the site builders' company, today announced it is working with iCat and two other leading e-commerce vendors to develop and release components within 90 days that extend the capabilities of the company's leading NetObjects Fusion 3.0 and NetObjects TeamFusion site building software to enable the easy creation of electronic commerce sites.

Today's announcement of e-commerce components from iCat (www.icat.com), as well as from Breakthrough Software (www.btsw.com) and Internet Factory (www.ifact.com), is the first stage of NetObjects' e-commerce strategy, which aims to establish NetObjects Fusion and NetObjects TeamFusion as the best Web site authoring environments for a broad range of e-commerce solutions.

Mirroring its successful integration and partnering strategy for dynamic database connectivity via leading database middleware, such as Lotus Domino (NYSE: IBM), Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) ASP, Allaire ColdFusion, and Netscape (NASDAQ: NSCP) LiveWire, NetObjects' e-commerce thrust leverages the company's open site building environment to enable developers to create Java-based components that extend the capabilities of NetObjects Fusion and NetObjects TeamFusion.

"NetObjects Fusion 3.0 and NetObjects TeamFusion provide businesses with highly productive site building environments that can be extended to support the e-commerce solution that best suits their needs," said Dave Kleinberg, NetObjects' executive vice president of products. "Our e-commerce strategy is based on the three principles of open technology, partnerships with best-of-breed vendors and out-of-the-box solutions that address a broad range of customer needs."

The components which integrate with iCat Commerce Online, Breakthrough Software's Internet Business Breakthrough and Internet Factory's Merchant Builder provide businesses robust visual solutions to either incorporate e-commerce functionality into their Web sites or create brand new electronic storefronts. For example, site builders can simply drag-and-drop iCat components into Web sites built with NetObjects Fusion in order to enable secure purchases to be completed via iCat Commerce Online.

"iCat is extremely pleased to be working with NetObjects to enable even more businesses to participate in electronic commerce," said Craig Danuloff, iCat president and CEO. "iCat has become the recognized e-commerce leader by helping everyone from the Fortune 500 to home-based businesses to sell on the Internet. Our partnership with NetObjects enables merchants to use the best-of-breed front-end authoring product while seamlessly integrating into the unique e-commerce capabilities of iCat Commerce Online."

In addition to co-developing e-commerce components with NetObjects, Breakthrough Software and Internet Factory are also developing NetObjects Fusion templates and sample sites which will include the basic layout for storefront pages such as shopping carts, customer service pages, invoices and so on. Using the powerful NetObjects Fusion authoring environment, customers can very quickly add the commerce components to these templates and customize the content to suit their business needs.

The components will be available within 90 days from both the NetObjects Web site and the partner Web sites. Pricing will be announced at the time of general availability. Detailed information on the components is available on each vendor's web site and information on all components is available on NetObjects' site at www.netobjects.com.
