NetObjects Enhances Unique, World-Class Design Team
Top Designers Clement Mok,Vic Zauderer Develop Next-Generation Web Site Building Software

Redwood City, CA, January 27, 1997 -- NetObjects, Inc., leading provider of Web site publishing software, today strengthened its design group with internal promotions, a new employee and the addition of Susan Kare as Design Fellow.

The NetObjects design team is led by Clement Mok, NetObjects' chief creative officer and one of the world's leading interactive media designers. NetObjects is unique among Internet software companies in combining strong technology capabilities with a rich design heritage. Vic Zauderer, former designer of The Understanding Business' online efforts for Internet MCI and InfoSeek and member of the design team of The Republic of Tea, has been promoted to director, product design. Ron Fernandez, former art director and product manager at Apple Computer and product manager at Caere Corporation, is director of Web site design. Diane Tapscott, former international marketing professional at Adobe, Apple and Atari, is now director of design communications. And Steve Cavalieri, former senior creative guy at Logitech and art director with Argosystems, a subsidiary of The Boeing Company, has been hired as creative director.

Susan Kare, leading user interface graphics designer of the Macintosh and General Magic operating systems, joins NetObjects as a part-time Design Fellow. In that role, Kare will continue to provide design input into NetObjects' Web site building software product family.

"The unique combination of information designers and software developers has enabled NetObjects to produce aesthetically-pleasing and leading-edge products," said Mok. "The mission of our internal team is to collaborate with the larger community of Web designers to make professional-quality design accessible to all Web site builders."

Since its introduction in September 1996, over 100,000 users have downloaded NetObjects Fusion, NetObjects' flagship Web site building software application, and built over 1000 sites to date. NetObjects Fusion is the industry's only visual, site-oriented Web site building software that gives users a quantum leap of productivity over manual, programmatic ways of building Web sites today. NetObjects Fusion 1.0 is available for Windows and Macintosh operating systems and has won several industry awards including Slaughterhouse's Killer App, one of C/NET's Top 5 Internet Products of the Year, Morph's Outpost Daily Spectrum's Best Web Authoring Tool, PC Magazine's Editors Choice and Publish Magazine's Impact award.
