Redwood City, Calif., March 23, 1997 -- NetObjects, Inc. today announced the availability of NetObjects ScriptBuilder 2.0 for Windows NT/95, the company's best-of-breed script development environment for the Web. The company also announced three new distribution and co-marketing agreeements with industry leaders Netscape Communications Corporation, Microsoft Corporation, and Lotus Corporation, who will offer the product to their customers.
Since being announced in February 1998, NetObjects ScriptBuilder 2.0 has gathered momentum by winning the Cool Tool of the Day award and being downloaded by several thousand Web developers. NetObjects ScriptBuilder is a powerful script editor that combines rich development tools with a point-and-click environment to enable rapid creation of both client and server-side scripts. The product is currently used by customers at several leading corporations including Boeing, Merrill Lynch, and CKS who attest to its open nature and ease-of-use.
The three new partners will support NetObjects Scriptbuilder 2.0 in the following ways:
- Starting immediately, NetObjects ScriptBuilder will be sold online through the Netscape Software Depot by software.net, accessible via http://home.netscape.com. In addition, Netscape DevEdge, Netscape's popular site dedicated to developers, will host a 30-day trial version of the product."
- Starting immediately, Microsoft Corporation will promote NetObjects ScriptBuilder on the Microsoft SiteBuilder Network. Members of the SiteBuilder Network qualify for a special 60-day introductory price of $79.
- Within 60 days, Lotus intends to make NetObjects ScriptBuilder available through its Lotus Passport program -- the company's volume license program for corporations acquiring selected Lotus software and support
In addition, NetObjects ScriptBuilder is included in the recently-announced NetObjects Fusion ProPack, a suite of best-of-breed products and components designed to advance the creation of e-business Web sites. The NetObjects Fusion ProPack will be available in May, 1998.
Pricing and Availability
NetObjects ScriptBuilder is available for an estimated street price of $99. Current Acadia Infuse customers who purchased the product directly from Acadia Software can upgrade to NetObjects ScriptBuilder 2.0 for free. In addition, those customers who received a free copy of Acadia Infuse when they purchased NetObjects Fusion 2.0 for Windows will be eligible for a $49 upgrade. The product will be distributed through a large network of VAR's, cataloguers and on-line resellers, as well as being available directly from NetObjects.
