NetObjects Appoints New VP of WorldWide Sales And Senior Director of International Sales
Former Kodak and AOL Executives Lead Company's Evolution from Internet Start-up to Major Software Provider

Redwood City, CA, January 22, 1997 -- NetObjects, Inc., an emerging leader in Web site publishing software, today announced the appointment of Mark Patton as vice president of worldwide sales and George Arabian as senior director of international sales. The two executives will spearhead the company's demand-generation and fulfillment efforts to a base of over 100,000 worldwide users and enable its transition from Internet start-up to major software provider.

Patton joins NetObjects' executive team and will report directly to chairman and CEO, Samir Arora.

"Mark and George join us at a crucial juncture in our evolution, a time at which we are poised to become the dominant software provider for Web site publishing professionals worldwide," said Arora. "As we evolve from focusing on product development to generating marketshare and revenue, their proven expertise in creating and implementing sales strategies will be critical to our success."

Patton brings fifteen years of sales and marketing management experience at Kodak, Logitech, Apple Computer and Procter & Gamble USA. Prior to joining NetObjects, as general manager of worldwide marketing and sales at Kodak's Digital and Applied Imaging division, Patton managed the $500 million division and established Kodak as a leader in the digital imaging category. Prior to that, as vice president and general manager of Logitech's American region, Patton helped generate revenues of over $100 million and implemented a new business model that returned the division to profitability. During his decade-long tenure at Apple, Patton devised channel expansion strategies and coverage models, specially targeted to large customer accounts and achieved revenue goals in excess of $2 billion. Patton holds a bachelor of arts in speech communication and business from the University of Washington, Seattle.

"I have always been excited about getting in on the ground floor of emerging industries and helping define and own new markets,"said Patton. "The Internet represents the same unexplored landscape as the PC industry in the eighties. In NetObjects, I found a company that's poised to dominate a segment which currently has no clear winner."

Arabian brings over a decade of experience in marketing and sales management with high-growth technology companies. Prior to NetObjects, as director of channel and international sales for America Online, Arabian helped launch the Navisoft remote Web authoring and server software and focused efforts in the WAIS Internet search and retrieval engine business after its merger with AOL. In addition, as vice president of sales for Orchid Technology, Arabian boosted the company's sales from $11 to $30 million and contributed to a successful initial public offering. Arabian holds a bachelor of arts from the University of Colorado and a masters of business administration from San Francisco State University.
