NetObjects Products Receive Industrial Design Excellence Award
NetObjects Fusion and NetObjects TeamFusion Named Gold
Award Winners

Redwood City, Calif., May 15, 1998 - NetObjects, Inc. today announced that its category-creating Web authoring products NetObjects Fusion and NetObjects TeamFusion were selected by the Industrial Designers Society of America to receive the prestigious Industrial Design Excellence Award (IDEA). NetObjects Fusion and NetObjects TeamFusion were among 33 products selected out of a record breaking 1031 entries to receive the top honor- a Gold award. A complete list of the award winners, which includes Volkswagen, Black & Decker (NYSE: BDK), and Motorola (NYSE: MOT), is published in the current (May 25th) edition of Business Week magazine.

The IDEA is the world's most prestigious recognition for excellence in industrial design - the form, use features and interactive qualities of products, exhibits and software. Thirteen jurors, who reviewed entries in 47 subcategories ranging from cars and computers to museum exhibits and software, selected the winners. The jurors scored how well each entry fulfilled five criteria of industrial design excellence: design innovation, benefit to the user, benefit to the client/business, ecological responsibility and appropriate aesthetics and appeal.

"NetObjects Fusion and NetObjects TeamFusion respond to and anticipate changes in the way work is done," said Meredith Davis, an IDSA juror from North Carolina State University. "These products are as much social solutions as technological ones and are clearly written from a designer/user's point of view and not from a programmer's perspective."

"NetObjects' product design philosophy has always emphasized ease of use, elegance and innovation, " said Clement Mok, NetObjects' Chief Creative Officer. "Receiving the IDEA award is a tremendous honor that validates our position as the developer of world-class software products."

The awards ceremony will take place in San Diego on September 26, as the closing event of the IDSA National Conference.
