NetObjects Enhances Engineering and Product Management
As The Company Evolves From Start-Up to A Major Software Provider

Redwood City, CA, January 16, 1997 -- NetObjects, Inc., an emerging leader in Web site publishing, today enhanced its engineering and product management team with the promotion of 3 managers, indicating the company's evolution from start-up to a major software provider.

Martin Frid-Nielsen, one of Borland's early engineers and developer of Sidekick, was promoted from director to vice president of engineering. In his new role, Frid-Nielsen joins NetObjects' executive team to lead engineering efforts. Sal Arora, NetObjects co-founder and co-developer of the Structure Of Linked Objects (S.O.L.O.) architecture, was promoted from director to chief technology architect. In that role, Arora will develop the company's technology vision and evaluate emerging industry developments like Netscape ONE, Java and Active/X. Frid-Nielsen and Arora round out the engineering team of Randy Wigginton, senior director of Macintosh products and former employee #6 of Apple Computer, and Fernando Ruarte, director of server products, former founder of Risco Systems.

In addition, Bernard Desarnauts, was promoted from senior manager to director of program management. In that role, Desarnauts will drive the company's rapid delivery of a product family of Web publishing applications. Desarnauts brings over a decade of software development and marketing experience in companies such as Borland and Maxinfo.

"This is only NetObjects' second year of operation but it feels like the proverbial seven in Web years," said Arora. "Our new level of technical management will help maintain our rapid pace of delivering innovative, quality software products that push the envelope for Web site publishing."

NetObjects Fusion 1.0, the company's flagship Web site building software application, is based on the industry's only visual, site-oriented approach to building Web sites. Available for Windows and Macintosh operating systems, NetObjects Fusion 1.0 has won several industry awards including Slaughterhouse's Killer App, C/NET's Best Internet Product of the Year, Morph's Outpost Daily Spectrum's Best Web Authoring Tool, PC Magazine's Editors Choice and Publish Magazine's Impact.
