NetObjects Fusion 2.0 Wins CNET Internet Excellence Award
Chosen As Best Web Design Tool Over Microsoft FrontPage 97

Redwood City, CA, March 10, 1997 -- NetObjects, Inc. today announced that its category-creating NetObjects Fusion 2.0 Web site development software has won a C/Net Internet Excellence Award. NetObjects Fusion 2.0 for Windows was named the "Best Web Design Tool," edging out Microsoft FrontPage'97 and HomeSite 2.0 for this highest honor.

NetObjects Fusion is widely recognized as pioneering the category of site-oriented Web site software, and is used by designers, developers, and professional site builders within small businesses and corporations to build compelling sites, not just pages.

"NetObjects Fusion remains the single most effective way to create and manage comprehensive, professional sites efficiently and intuitively," said the CNET editors judging the awards. "For the design-minded, the desktop-publishing-style authoring interface is friendlier and somewhat more intuitive. By starting with an organizational chart rather than an empty page, it is easier to manage the site from the top down. It also affords better pixel-level control of placement of objects, including snap-to guidelines. And the addition of simple, thorough site importing capabilities in version 2.0 really put Fusion ahead of FrontPage."

The CNET award follows other recognition for NetObjects Fusion 2.0 such as being named:

  • "Product of the Week," PC Magazine On-Line, March 3, 1997;
  • Finalist, Outstanding Business Software, Internet World Industry Awards

and being judged "Bottom Line: Excellent, Cons: None Significant" by an Infoworld reviewer.

"CNET has recognized what thousands of site builders tell us every day -- using NetObjects Fusion is simply the easiest and most productive way to build good-looking, sophisticated Web sites," said David Kleinberg, NetObjects' executive vice president of products. "It's also heartening to be rewarded for keeping our finger the pulse of Web site builders and delivering quality software to them in Internet time."

Since the introduction of NetObjects Fusion 1.0 in September 1996, over 150,000 site builders have downloaded it to build thousands of media-rich Web sites. NetObjects 2.0 for Windows is available today for an expected street price of under $500 in North America via Ingram Micro, a network of resellers and VARs and directly from NetObjects.
