Redwood City, Calif, July 10, 1997- NetObjects, Inc today announced that its category-creating Web authoring product NetObjects Fusion edged out Microsoft FrontPage, and Adobe PageMill to receive top rankings from Web professionals who attended an authoring tools shoot-out at last month's WebINNOVATION conference in San Jose.
The shoot-out, designed and moderated by Dan Shafer, executive technical producer and columnist for CNET's Web Builder site www.builder.com, asked the 100 attendees to rate each of the products on a scale of 0 to 5 in each of 18 compulsory categories which included adding text and images, importing assets, adding rich media and finally previewing and publishing the completed site. In addition to the products mentioned, representatives from Claris HomePage, and Symantec VisualPage also participated.
WebINNOVATION shoot-out attendees were a highly-qualified audience of Web professionals intimately familiar with the tedium associated with Web site authoring and looking for products that would help alleviate that tedium. The results were based on empirical ratings of product features and functionality in performing 18 tasks essential to building a compelling Web site.
