NetObjects Builds San Francisco International Film Festival 40th Anniversary Web Site
WebReach Community Relations Program Donates Software and Services

Redwood City, CA, April 1, 1997 -- NetObjects Inc. today announced that its award-winning Web site building product, NetObjects Fusion 2.0, is being used to build and manage the Web site for the San Francisco International Film Festival's (SFIFF) 40th Anniversary. SFIFF is the latest project of WebReach, the company's community relations program which is designed to empower nonprofit organizations and social groups by helping them establish a compelling Web presence.

Located at www.sfiff.org, the Web site will showcase the rapid creation and easy maintenance of well-designed, media-rich content. During the two week duration of the SFIFF (April 24-May 8), the site will also use NetObjects' webcasting methodology to continuously update content such as:

  • interviews and portraits of longtime festival directors, actors, and winners
  • behind-the-scenes photographs and stories of the people involved in the 40th Anniversary
  • a virtual tour of the exciting moments from Opening Night, the Mandela Celebration, Owens Award Gala, and the Closing Night Finale
  • highlights from festival special programs such as Indelible Images
  • selections of Bay Area Filmmakers' most memorable films from past festivals

NetObjects' production partners on the SFIFF project include Percepticon and Actual Systems. Percepticon will design and build the final site and Actual Systems will integrate the back-end, media content.

"We chose NetObjects because the company has a proven commitment to helping community organizations establish a compelling online presence," said Cathy Fischer, Communications Director at the San Francisco International Film Festival. "We understand that NetObjects Fusion is the only product that allows site builders to easily create and maintain rich Web sites, which is very attractive to an organization with limited resources."

Past NetObjects WebReach projects include:

  • The 1997 Presidential Inauguration, An American Journey: Produced a "Web-u-mentary" --the first web cast of a Presidential Inauguration celebration. Provided production, technical support, software, and on-the-fly expertise in networking, content management, server administration, and publishing.
  • The Live 105, Green Christmas Ball: Produced a webcast for this annual benefit concert that showcases the most talented of alternative bands, such as Beck and Cake, for an evening to support the Wilderness Society.
  • The Bridge School: Built the Bridge School's Web site, and had a major presence at The Bridge Concert, an annual musical event sponsored by the school that featured prominent artists like Neil Young, Pearl Jam and David Bowie.
  • The Planet Youth Summit: Worked with youth delegates attending the State of the World Forum, sponsored by the Gorbachev Foundation in San Francisco, to create a 150 page Web site that consisted of the youth's stories of the conference.

Qualified nonprofit organizations that participate in the WebReach program receive a substantial discount on NetObjects' products, technical consultation and design tips. Nonprofit organizations and community groups interested in joining WebReach can get details in the community section of NetObjects' Web site at www.netobjects.com.
