NetObjects™ Announces Updated Version of NetObjects ScriptBuilder™ to Support IBM WebSphere
Teams Up with IBM and Apache to Enable Rapid Development of Powerful Web Applications

Redwood City, Calif., June 22, 1998 - NetObjects, Inc. today announced an updated version of its leading Web script development tool, NetObjects ScriptBuilder 2.01, that adds dedicated support for the IBM WebSphere Application Server and the JavaServer Page (JSP) technology co-developed by IBM (NYSE: IBM) and Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ: SUNW). The company also announced that it is working closely with the developers of the commercial version of the Apache web server, C2Net Software. As the first deliverable of the relationship with C2Net, NetObjects will offer a free, downloadable version of NetObjects ScriptBuilder 2.01 to C2Net's customers for a limited time.

NetObjects ScriptBuilder 2.01 is the company's first delivery of a version optimized to provide best-of-breed support for the IBM WebSphere Application Server, IBM's Java servlet based Web application server. NetObjects previously announced that its other award-winning Web authoring products, NetObjects Fusion™ and NetObjects TeamFusion™, will also be closely integrated with the IBM WebSphere product line over time.

"The addition of support for JSP and the IBM WebSphere Application Server reinforces NetObjects ScriptBuilder 2.01 as the most open script development tool for the Web," said Morris Taradalsky, executive vice president of the tools division at NetObjects. "NetObjects ScriptBuilder provides developers a powerful complementary tool making it easier to learn and take advantage of the IBM WebSphere Application Server platform."

NetObjects ScriptBuilder 2.01 is the first development tool available that supports the IBM WebSphere Application Server. NetObjects ScriptBuilder 2.01 provides WebSphere application developers with a dedicated, complementary tool for developing JavaServer pages with Java and JSP color syntax highlighting, built-in language reference and numerous samples, and re-usable scripts.

In addition to NetObjects ScriptBuilder, NetObjects' Web authoring products NetObjects Fusion and NetObjects TeamFusion will also be incorporated into the WebSphere product family. The NetObjects TeamFusion Authoring Server will provide an open platform for designing, developing, and managing both collaborative and team oriented Web sites and applications. The Authoring Server will enable customers to select their front-end tool of choice and will allow any WebDAV client tool to inter-operate with the IBM WebSphere platform. NetObjects Fusion and the NetObjects TeamFusion Client will enable the rapid development of business Web sites through open support for new technologies such as JavaBeans and NFX components.

"An integrated tool set, that enables customers to build dynamic Java applications, is an essential component of our WebSphere product line," said Paraic Sweeney, vice president of Web server marketing at IBM. "The NetObjects' product family, along with IBM's VisualAge for Java, are key components of the IBM WebSphere tool set, representing the best of breed products for Web application development. The ease-of-use and open nature of NetObjects products, combined with the industrial strength backbone of the WebSphere Application Server, will provide developers with a unique combination of productivity, reliability, and scalability."

Pricing and Availability
NetObjects ScriptBuilder 2.01 will be available from NetObjects sales and distribution channels by the end of June. The estimated street price is US$99. As a limited time promotion, until September 30, 1998, IBM is offering a free downloadable copy of the software to WebSphere Application Server customers. In addition, existing NetObjects ScriptBuilder 2.0 customers will be able to get a free update with the new capabilities directly from the NetObjects web site at http://www.netobjects.com this week.
