Cellular One Switches From Microsoft FrontPage to NetObjects TeamFusion For Its Internet and Intranet Web Site Building Needs

Redwood City, Calif., July 21, 1998 – NetObjects, Inc., the Web site builders' company, today announced that leading wireless communications vendor Cellular One in the San Francisco Bay Area has switched from Microsoft FrontPage to NetObjects TeamFusion as the product-of-choice for corporate Internet and intranet site development.

The Cellular One Web team, led by Web masters Ted Field and Ronell Toledo, used NetObjects TeamFusion to re-design, manage and maintain Cellular One’s 150-page corporate Internet site (http://www.cellone-sf.com). Re-launched in May 1998, Cellular One's Internet site contains information regarding Cellular One's rate plans, service options, product features, coverage areas, support, locations and careers. Based on their successful experience, the Web team is currently using NetObjects TeamFusion to re-engineer the company's Intranet site as well.

"With two Web masters and eight content experts collaborating on site development, we needed a site authoring environment that would streamline our process and encourage teamwork," said Toledo. "We found that NetObjects TeamFusion's unique roles-based approach eliminated bottlenecks and enabled us to create a complex corporate site in a cost-effective and efficient manner." Toledo estimates that the entire re-design of the Internet site, from conceptualization to deployment, took under one month, roughly half the time it would have taken using FrontPage.

Toledo and Field were able to leverage the roles-based approach of NetObjects TeamFusion to empower users of different skill levels with appropriate privileges to participate in different stages of Web site building. As a result, they were able to significantly reduce the time it takes to get content online while at the same time maintain control over the entire site building process. “What used to take four to five working days to get published now takes a maximum of one to two days,“ said Toledo.

In addition to the time and money saved by using NetObjects TeamFusion, the Web team has been able to implement several additional enhancements to the site itself. The Cellular One Web site now has a fresh contemporary look, improved navigation and additional functionality. New additions to the site include a paging application, online phone catalog, roaming guide and job posting section.

As a result of the overall success with the Cellular One Internet site, the Web team has since begun focusing its efforts on re-engineering the company intranet using NetObjects TeamFusion. Similar to the Internet project, Toledo anticipates a seamless transition to NetObjects TeamFusion. “The use of TeamFusion for both our intranet and Internet sites lays the groundwork for the convergence of information that is necessary on both sites. Best of all, with the reduction of ‘Web master bottlenecks’, information can be published faster, more accurately and from multiple sources,” said Toledo.
