Navy Federal Credit Union Selects NetObjects Authoring Server for its Intranet Solution

World’s Largest Credit Union Uses NetObjects Authoring Server for Intranet Site World Wide

Redwood City, Calif., Jan. 11, 2000 — NetObjects, Inc. (NASDAQ: NETO) a leading provider of e-business software, solutions and e-services for small business and enterprises, today announced that the Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) has chosen NetObjects Authoring Server (NAS), the powerful collaborative Web development and content management solution, to build an intranet site for its more than 3,500 employees worldwide.

“NetObjects Authoring Server provides an ideal solution that allows more than 200 of our employees to contribute to the NFCU intranet,” said John C. Herzberg, manager of intranet design & development, NFCU.  “For our needs, we found NAS to be the best platform for developing and managing website applications and content.  Perhaps the greatest benefit of NAS is that it allowed us to get up to speed quickly.  With only one day of training, our non-technical staff were able to effectively contribute and manage web site content.”

“NetObjects is excited to be working with the Navy Federal Credit Union to provide them with a powerful, yet easy-to-use intranet solution”, said Morris Taradalsky, executive vice president of the enterprise division, NetObjects, Inc. “NetObjects Authoring Server is designed to be an especially effective content management solution for large distributed enterprises, such as the NFCU, where different departments use different tools to contribute to enterprise Web sites – whether Internet, intranet or extranet.”

The NFCU has broken their intranet site into 15 sub sites with subject matter experts contributing information from the credit union’s various divisions. NFCU has experienced a reduction in printing costs after moving its manuals, forms, rate information and other company documents to the intranet.    “We are moving from a paper-oriented company to a virtually paperless company,” Herzberg said.  “We also see an advantage from having one source where employees can go to for data.”

Initially the NFCU developed a test intranet site with Microsoft FrontPage but found that the tool lacked scalability for a large distributed development team. However, the NFCU found NetObjects Authoring Server to have the scalability it needed.  In less than two months, NFCU employees developed more than 2500 pages for its intranet.  Ease of use was an added advantage that NAS brought to the credit union.  It took only a few weeks for the NFCU to complete the setup and initial development of its intranet using NAS.

NetObjects Authoring Server 2000 brings together the most important aspects of web development and content management for the enterprise Web team – collaboration, workflow, control, rapid design, easy Web site administration and content management, and openness and integrated connectivity with legacy enterprise applications – truly raising the industry standard for the development, deployment and maintenance of enterprise-wide Web sites.
